The geographical travel atlas

The Roving Atlas

The atlas follows the map

Not one journey. Every journey.

Reflections of a Roving Doctor followed one gap year chronologically. This archive follows everywhere the road has taken me since.

Through countries, dives, treks, friendships and mistakes, this atlas traces how travel changes the way I see the world and myself.

The archive is intentionally unfinished. Published destinations are ready to explore, while the quieter labels mark journeys that have happened but have not yet made it onto the page.

Explore geographically

Seven continents. No sensible route.

Search for a destination or filter the archive by continent. Solid routes are published; muted entries are journeys whose stories are still being written.

Africa

Ancient civilisations, desert horizons and the first steps onto a new continent.

Oceania

The blank space on the archive - for now.

No published narratives yet

Antarctica

Ice, wildlife and a journey into the most remote wilderness I have ever known.

No route matched that search. Try a broader destination or continent.

Inside every destination

More than a list of places.

The map is only the index. The stories are about what happens when curiosity, medicine and poor planning collide somewhere unfamiliar.

Place

Landscapes, cities, wildlife, history and the small details that give each destination its own unmistakable character.

Adventure

Mountain trails, wreck dives, remote islands, long roads and whatever questionable method of transport happens to be available.

Perspective

The assumptions dismantled, people encountered and lessons that follow me home long after the passport stamp begins to fade.

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, to roam the roads of lands remote - to travel is to live.
