The Maltese Islands on foot

Malta - Hiking Cliffs, coastlines and country paths

A growing collection of walks around Malta and Gozo, from clay ridges and limestone cliffs to quiet valleys and country paths. Route notes, photographs and stories from the islands on foot.

My Malta on foot

The island makes more sense on foot.

Malta may be small, but there is a lot between one headland and the next.

Clay slopes lead into sandy bays, limestone cliffs give way to weathered salt pans, and country paths wind between dry-stone walls. These are the walks that bring me closer to the islands, with the landscapes, practical details and little discoveries that make each route worth sharing.

Read each trail's notes before setting off. Exposed cliffs, slippery clay and summer heat can make a short walk demanding. Check the weather and local access, carry water, respect private land and leave the landscape as you found it.
