Ancient civilisations, desert horizons and the first steps onto a new continent.
A continent-by-continent archive of the places I have crossed, the stories I brought home and the many corners of the map still waiting to be written.
Reflections of a Roving Doctor followed one gap year chronologically. This archive follows everywhere the road has taken me since.
Some countries hold a single story. Others open into entire collections of cities, treks, dive trips and questionable transport choices. Together, they form a geographical record of a life that keeps moving alongside medicine.
The archive is intentionally unfinished. Published destinations are ready to explore, while the quieter labels mark journeys that have happened but have not yet made it onto the page.
Each coloured pin marks a published destination. Select a pin to open its story, or use the directory below when you would rather browse by continent.
Search for a destination or filter the archive by continent. Solid routes are published; muted entries are journeys whose stories are still being written.

Ancient civilisations, desert horizons and the first steps onto a new continent.
Temples, islands, mountains, cities and some of the most vivid culture shocks.
A long route through Central America, the Caribbean and the first months on the road.
Andean trails, Patagonian wilderness, immense cities and the southern edge of the map.
Closer to home, but never short of mountains, reunions, strange detours and historic streets.
The blank space on the archive - for now.
Ice, wildlife and a journey into the most remote wilderness I have ever known.
No route matched that search. Try a broader destination or continent.
The map is only the index. The stories are about what happens when curiosity, medicine and poor planning collide somewhere unfamiliar.
Landscapes, cities, wildlife, history and the small details that give each destination its own unmistakable character.
01Mountain trails, wreck dives, remote islands, long roads and whatever questionable method of transport happens to be available.
02The assumptions dismantled, people encountered and lessons that follow me home long after the passport stamp begins to fade.

This journal has no final chapter and no fixed publication date. New routes appear whenever another country, expedition or forgotten collection of notes is finally turned into a story.
Published entries remain linked in the archive above. Forthcoming destinations stay visible so the page can grow naturally without losing the shape of the journey.
There is no final destination here.
The journal remains open - to another country, another trail and another story that will make far more sense after I have survived it.
