Bohol – Day 1: Another Beginning

BOHOL

Day 1: Another Beginning

October 17, 2024

I could hardly believe my time in El Nido was over. This was totally one of those places I would’ve extended my stay in had I had the luxury of time.

I woke up super early and made the most of my little remaining time there, running towards the sea one last time before heading to the airport. On the way there, I met Cherry, a Chinese lady who lives in Sydney and works as an engineer. She told me all about her freediving adventures in El Nido, once again reinforcing in me the idea that I need to do the course and start yet another journey. Hmm… Maybe. Maybe I could spend a couple of days doing the course in the Philippines. Maybe.

Welcome to Bohol

As much as I wanted to stay in El Nido, I was also excited at the idea of visiting a new place. I’d be flying to Bohol, an island province in the Central Visayas region.

I’d have to fly to Manila first and then to Bohol, meaning I’d spend an entire day travelling. Though it’s quite a nuisance when you have a fixed amount of time, I was looking forward to catching up on some reading and writing, with the previous fun-filled days leaving me little room for that.

Well, I certainly did have time to do just that. I practically read an entire book on the way to Bohol, and once there, it was already dusk. Thankfully, I had no plans for the evening and just allowed myself to crash once I got to the homestay I’d be staying in – a nice wooden lodge in the middle of the jungle.

Stay wild,
Marius
