Malta's shoreline is far more varied than a map makes it look.
Some bays are broad and sandy, others are little more than a strip of pebbles beneath limestone cliffs. There are rocky ledges made for slipping straight into deep water, sheltered coves for snorkelling and remote beaches that feel completely different once the crowds disappear. These are the places where I swim, explore and keep finding another version of the islands I thought I knew.

Check wind, swell and local sea conditions before swimming, especially at exposed or remote bays. Watch for slippery rock, boat traffic, jellyfish and changing entry conditions, take your rubbish with you and leave the coastline exactly as you found it.
